CANDOISM.

Candoism is a philosophy of action to create lasting change. It covers the mindset and the actions of everyone who doesn't wait for the perfect moment, but creates it themselves.

Candoism is developed by
Wieke Dijkstra - CEO of the can do company - in response to a systemic question:

"How do you create individual agency (in complex systems) when nobody can do it alone?"

From that question, the can do company builds a collective of doers who take charge and dare to go all-in to accelerate progress on the biggest challenges of our time.

Anyone who embraces Candoism believes that progress starts with you. What you think and do determines the impact you make. When things get tense, Candoism helps you act from positive realism.

The power of Candoism lies in two simple but far-reaching questions:

What is possible? And what will I do?

These questions take you straight to the core of responsibility, motion, and impact. They form the bridge between thought and action, between intent and execution.

Candoism has 7 principles that help you achieve your goals, even though you can never be sure you'll reach them.

The seven principles of Candoism

Candoism is built on 7 principles, with matching behavior for leaders and change makers:

Principle

Why?

Commitment

BELIEVE IN CHANGE
Change starts with the belief that it can be done.
I radiate positivity and face every obstacle by asking: "What is possible and what will I do?"
KEEP IT SIMPLE
If you don't get it, you can't do it.
I connect the contradictory by exploring different perspectives and digging to the core.
ACT WITH INTENT
You only get to spend your time once.
I focus on what's in my circle of influence and always take steps, however small, towards my end goal.
Reflect in action
You learn best in the moment.
I structurally reflect and ask others for explicit feedback to become 1% better every day.
Lead with empathy
Every change meets resistance.
I actively listen, ask open questions, and dare to address both facts and feelings.
choose allyship
You always need others.
I anticipate by foreseeing the impact of (intertwined) actions and show up for my allies in change.
GO ALL-IN
Success is never guaranteed.
I commit to no excuses, no matter what. I raise the bar, being an example for the action and behavior of others.
The table above is made up of three connected columns.
Principle: Describes the mindset behind the principle.
Why: Explains why the principle matters and bridges mindset and behavior.
Commitment: Makes the behavior that belongs with the principle and its explanation explicit.
Together, mindset and behavior deliver acceleration in (system) change that you can both measure and feel. This is the core of Candoism:

Candoism = mindset x behavior.
